During a recent VIP Q&A session that I was on the panel for, I was overwhelmed when asked the question about balancing life, travel, ministry, family, marriage... I don’t know if there is ever balance or what that actually means, but there IS a call from God and it’s not always easy. It’s hard, it’s fulfilling, it’s lonely, it’s overwhelming. I shared with the audience how I haven’t been to my home church in nine weeks and won’t be back there for another two. That’s 11 weeks without my church community, but more than that it’s 11 weeks of not sitting next to my husband in worship. Yet, I go. I go for the broken. I go for the lost. I go for those who have worn the mask for far too long. I go because the Lord has called. With the blessing of my husband and the covering of my Pastor I go at times in tears and fatigue, BUT I always go in the JOY of the Lord and the expectant anticipation of the amazing things He will do. So until the Lord calls me home, I will go where He sends me. The balance? The balance is easy to discern. Do what God says or don’t. When I don’t, everything else is thrown off kilter and the balance if off. When I obey the call, balance is restored. Will you, if you don’t already, pray for me? Pray for my marriage, my strength and my obedience to His voice. Pray for me to hear and grasp the words the Lord is commanding me to share and that I would share them boldly. Pray for my heart to be soft and open. Pray that I would do the next thing He is asking of me. Pray especially for my husband. He is my life and my greatest cheerleader. Pray that I would give him the best of me and not the leftover weary scraps. Please pray and I will pray for you. Love you in the Lord, Mia

Mia you are in my prayers. We finally found a home church after 12 years! The Pastor there wrote a book that he gifts newcomers called Broken to Broken. I read the last two days. Now you mention Broken! God is really moving in our lives. We had been in the desert much too long awaiting God’s word. I know it is always in His time and His plan, but grrrr I am not very patient. Maybe that is what He was teaching me!

Mia, you are such an inspiration to me. I saw you in Lynchburg, VA in January. Since then I have shared your story to several people. You are definitely doing what God is leading you to do. I know you touch so many people every time you speak or sing before a group. You are truly living the Great Commission. God is with you & he is going to give you the energy to do his will & the energy to have time for your husband & family. Praying for you friend!

Mia, thank you and bless you for your transparency. Thank you for your ministry, your heart for the lost and searching, for your obedience. My daughter Julie (who I hope I get to introduce you to Friday night!) and her family are headed to Uganda soon for long term mission ministry. She would echo your words ~ that God says. Go. So they are, stepping out in faith that His plan is best for their family. Prayers for your husband and your family as you are out on the road doing the Lord’s work, prayers for your strength, health, wellness and trust. Hugs and love, in Jesus ~ Jo

Today I was telling one of our shut-ins about your ministry. Being an older woman, she couldn't understand how you could be married and do that. I told her that God called you, that you were bringing people to our Lord just as Jesus instructed us to go out and spread His word. You do it in such a beautiful way with the voice of an angel. Your husband supports you 100%. We miss you when you are gone. God bless you, you are in my prayers.

“Rest” is defined as “peace, ease or refreshment.” “Relax” means “to become loose or less firm, to have a milder manner, to be less stiff.” The Bible speaks quite highly of rest. It is a repeated theme throughout Scripture, beginning with the creation week (Genesis 2:2-3). God created for six days; then He rested, not because He was tired but to set the standard for mankind to follow. The Ten Commandments made resting on the Sabbath a requirement of the Law (Exodus 20:8-11). Notice that God said, “Remember the Sabbath.” It wasn’t something new; it had been around since creation. All God’s people and their servants and the animals were to have one day in seven to rest. The command to rest was not an excuse to be lazy. You had to work for six days to get to the Sabbath. The land also needed to rest (Leviticus 25:4, 8-12). God is very serious about rest.

The BlogA collection of writings from a life based on the truth that about midnight anything can happen. AuthorAs an imperfect servant of the Lord, I often feel I am fumbling my way through life, looking upward for guidance and outward to love. So, I write about it, to break up the noise in my head.
