I am marveling today at the story of creation and the performance of God's Word. If someone sold tickets it would have been the quickest sell out and best show ever. God's Word performs and as it performs it accomplishes what it has declared to be true! God's Word also declares that He keeps His promises. And so long ago at the fall, God promised a Messiah, the only thing is, He didn't tell them when. In Matthew 1:1-16 the genealogy and the path to the promise fulfilled is laid out. At the end of the long genealogy it states... "So all the generations from Abraham unto David are fourteen generations; and from David unto the carrying away to Babylon fourteen generations; and from the carrying away to Babylon unto the Christ fourteen generations." Matthew 1:17 14 + 14 + 14 =42! That's 42 generations to fulfill that promise from the time of Abraham. Friends, we clearly see that God is faithful to keep His Word, but do you also see that it may not have been on the time line that generation three was probably hoping for? So my question for you is this: Do you have what it takes? Do you have the trust in God's Word to know and believe that He will accomplish what He promises to you? Do you have the stamina and strength to go the distance? Do you have the "no matter what" attitude to see you through the storm? Do you have the Word buried in your heart? Are you ready to build some callouses as you hold on for dear life to the truth God? It took 42 generations, with prostitutes, adulterous characters, violent sinful people and a step-dad to ultimately fulfill His promise of a Messiah. Oh, the grace of our God. The promise that He is fulfilling and unfolding in your life may look completely different than what you were expecting and it may not even be fulfilled while you stand on their side of heaven (trust Him, still). He may use the hardships of life, the failings and other people, and ultimately adoption into a new situation to bring it about. So, again I ask, do you have what it takes to hold on the promise, to trust His faithfulness, and to believe His Word? Hold on, my friend, Hold on! When you doubt, and if you wonder, or as you question, open the Word of God and give a read through Matthew 1 to be reminded, God will do what He says He will do, you only need to be still, endure and trust, even when battles come and separate you, even when war breaks out, even when we fail. My friend, hold on to Hope. He never fails. I love you in the Lord, Mia
